Check out this overview of how live online therapy (e-therapy) can benefit school children in rural and underserved areas, for occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other special needs. This short slide presentation can be viewed here, downloaded and shared:
Benefits of online therapy:
Remote services provide access to therapy for students who might otherwise have IEP-required services unavailable to them. Access is increased while costs remain managable, since travel time and expense are significantly reduced. Online therapy services have been shown to be as effective as face-to-face in a variety of settings with a variety of disabilities.
Equipment needed:
With internet access and free videoconferencing software, a highly-qualified school therapist is just a click away to visit your classrooms virtually.
Licensed Therapists:
Only a state licensed Occupational Therapist can provide OT services. Our therapist holds OT licenses in Oregon, Washington, California and Arizona, and is eligible for licensure in other states. Our therapist is nationally certified by NBOTC.
Therapy services provided remotely:
Corvallis Children’s Therapy is an innovator in bringing remote OT observation, assessment and consultation to schools in the Pacific Northwest and California. Through this technology, therapists are also able to be present for more IEP-related meetings with teachers, family and others serving the student.
As with many online learning models, e-therapy through Corvallis Children’s Therapy offers a blended delivery model of online and onsite services.
